Nvidia’s (NVDA) latest developments include a significant ramp-up in Blackwell chip production.
To dive deeper into Nvidia’s strategies and the broader market outlook, Epistrophy Capital Research chief market strategist and host of the Drill Down podcast Cory Johnson joins hosts Julie Hyman and Josh Lipton to offer insights.
Johnson explains how Nvidia is aggressively expanding its footprint into emerging sectors, noting the company’s strong push into automotive, robotics, and artificial intelligence (AI)–driven technologies.
"Nvidia, and [CEO] Jensen Huang in particular, they’re taking great pains to talk about other markets that are out there, whether it’s automotive [or] gaming," Johnson says. "They talk about robots, they’ve made some investments there; they’ve had robots out at their Nvidia GTC trying to show off all these other places that AI will be used and the places that they can sell chips into."
Additionally, he highlights that while Nvidia’s chip sales to China have grown despite export controls, risks around these controls could affect future growth.
"Again, a year ago, in the fourth quarter, sales into China were under $2 billion. In this quarter, they were over $6 billion," Johnson adds.
