US forces bombed Venezuela and seized President Nicolas Maduro and his wife early on Saturday, before flying them out of the country. Maduro has since been transferred to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where he faces several charges, including narcoterrorism conspiracy. He’s expected to appear at a Manhattan federal court on Monday. US President Donald Trump says Washington will temporarily take control of Venezuela. As part of that plan, Trump says major US companies would move into Venezuela – home to the world’s largest proven oil reserves – to rebuild and modernise its crumbling oil infrastructure. Bassam Bounenni reports.
