At least one person was killed and 10 others injured as an active shooter opened fire in West Texas and barricaded himself inside a building Friday, officials said.
The nightmare tally in Midland was announced at a press conference shortly before city officials confirmed the gunman was dead, without elaborating on what sparked the carnage. The FBI also said it would assist in the investigation.
Police earlier said they were in a “standoff” with “an active shooter” after gunfire erupted around 8 a.m. Friday, with videos capturing the sound of several shots.
