Ready for more Superman?
On Monday, actor David Corenswet, known for his role in Netflix’s “The Politician,” was spotted filming his first scene as the iconic superhero in Cleveland, Superman’s fictional hometown. Corenswet arrived early at the Superior Ave. set, and by mid-morning, he was seen donning the classic Superman ensemble—a bright blue suit accented by a red cape and the unmistakable yellow “S” logo. This marked a nostalgic return to the traditional look with red trunks, a style last seen in the 2006 movie “Superman Returns.”

Joining Corenswet was Edi Gathegi, playing Mister Terrific, adorned in a leather jacket emblazoned with the slogan “Fair Play.” The scene captured the two superheroes conversing amidst a staged chaos, with background actors portraying civilians being evacuated from a CGI spacecraft into a disaster-struck area. Under the watchful eye of director James Gunn, multiple versions of this pivotal scene were filmed.
The production also featured Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Wendell Pierce as Daily Planet editor Perry White, both emerging dramatically from a pod-like structure on set. Nicholas Hoult, cast as the infamous Lex Luther, was also present, though dressed in casual attire, suggesting he may not have filmed that day.

Security around the filming was exceptionally tight. The stretch of Superior Ave. between E. 6th and E. 3rd St. was closed off starting from the previous Thursday, and for the first time, the adjacent sidewalks were also blocked, obscured by trucks, screens, and cranes. The Cleveland Public Library, located nearby, was closed to the public on Monday to prevent any unauthorized viewing of the filming, with these restrictions remaining in place through Tuesday.
