After all that has been said and done in this past week, Biden’s campaign is still scheduling events for his campaign. Insiders continue to claim he is out of the race by Monday at the latest, but he sure isn’t acting like it.
A growing wave of Democratic discontent is crashing down on President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign, pushing him to reconsider his bid for the 2024 election. Biden’s underwhelming performance in the recent presidential debate against GOP nominee Donald Trump in Atlanta has sparked a flurry of demands from influential Democrats urging him to step aside.

Despite these pressures, Biden remains unwavering. In a determined statement on Friday, he asserted, “Together, as a party and as a country, we can and will defeat Trump at the ballot box. The stakes are high, and the choice is clear. Together, we will win.” His firm stance, however, hasn’t stemmed the tide of dissent within his own ranks.
On that very day, more than ten Democratic lawmakers publicly called for Biden to drop out, with new pleas emerging almost by the hour. The Biden campaign, when queried, referred to Campaign Chair Jen O’Malley Dillon’s comments on MSNBC’s Morning Joe: “You have heard from the President directly time and again: He is in this race to win, and he is our nominee, and he’s going to be our President for a second term.”

Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown added his voice to the chorus, becoming the fourth Democratic Senator to urge Biden to step aside, emphasizing the need to focus on pivotal issues like job creation, law enforcement support, and the protection of Social Security and Medicare.
Senator Martin Heinrich of New Mexico, the third Democratic Senator advocating for Biden’s withdrawal, suggested that Biden stepping down would cement his legacy and rally the party behind a more robust candidate. This came shortly after Senator Jon Tester of Montana also called for Biden to step aside, recognizing Biden’s contributions while championing the need for new leadership.
Representatives Jared Huffman, Marc Veasey, Chuy Garcia, and Mark Pocan commended Biden’s extensive public service but recommended he make way for younger leaders like Vice President Kamala Harris.
Although Harris has been mentioned as a possible successor, she remains steadfast in her support for Biden, expressing pride in being his running mate in a CBS News interview.
Further calls for Biden to exit the race came from Illinois Representative Sean Casten, Ohio Representative Greg Landsman, Kentucky Representative Morgan McGarvey, and Minnesota Representative Betty McCollum, all stressing the critical necessity of defeating Trump and advancing the Democratic agenda.

California Representative Zoe Lofgren, a close ally of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, also urged Biden to step aside, cautioning that his candidacy could jeopardize the party’s success in the November election.
While some Democrats, like Florida Representative Kathy Castor, hinted at the need for new leadership without explicitly calling for Biden’s departure, others, such as Massachusetts Representative Seth Moulton, shared personal anecdotes that cast doubt on Biden’s ability to lead effectively.
To date, 32 Democratic representatives have called for Biden to step aside. High-ranking Democrats, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and Representative Nancy Pelosi, have reportedly discussed these concerns with Biden. Additionally, financial support from Democratic donors appears to be dwindling amid rising fears of a Trump victory.
We would all prefer he stay in the race, as Trump is virtually assured a massive victory if he does.
