Now we all know that there is someone at the Secret Service or DHS that is most likely a traitor or completely incompetent at the ridiculous level.
In the two years leading up to last weekend’s assassination attempt, Secret Service officials repeatedly turned down former President Donald Trump’s requests for enhanced security measures. Sources disclosed to The Washington Post that Trump, now 78, had sought more agents, magnetometers at large public events, and additional snipers for outdoor venues. Senior officials, however, consistently denied these requests, citing a lack of resources.
The assassination attempt unfolded at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, where 20-year-old Matthew Thomas Crooks opened fire. Secret Service agents, together with local law enforcement, were responsible for the event’s security.

The incident sparked widespread outrage over the apparent security failures, prompting the Secret Service to boost Trump’s protection to match the level afforded to President Biden. Initially, the agency dismissed claims from Trump’s camp that they had requested more security, calling these assertions “absolutely false.”
Facing mounting pressure to resign, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle doubled down on these denials during a meeting with Trump campaign leaders in Wisconsin. However, after glaring security deficiencies were exposed, the agency shifted its stance.
Anthony Guglielmi, a Secret Service spokesperson, admitted to The Washington Post that the agency had indeed denied Trump’s requests for additional security. He explained that the agency only became aware of the full extent of these requests following the assassination attempt. Guglielmi noted that in certain instances, specific Secret Service resources were not available, and the agency had to rely on state or local partners for additional protection.

“The Secret Service has a vast, challenging, and intricate mission,” Guglielmi stated. “We work every day in a dynamic threat environment to ensure our protectees are safe and secure across multiple events and travel scenarios. Our strategy balances personnel, technology, and specialized operational needs.”
Insiders mentioned that for the Butler, Pennsylvania rally, local law enforcement was brought in because Secret Service headquarters had denied Trump’s request for more resources. Typically, Trump’s detail would request manpower, equipment, and technology from headquarters. If denied, they would then seek support from the local field office, which would supplement with available resources, including local law enforcement.
The level of security Trump receives varies from event to event, depending on what the local field office can supply. Ultimately, the decision on resource allocation rests with Secret Service headquarters.

The agency has faced significant criticism for not preventing Crooks’s attack. Despite the terrifying incident, Trump has continued his campaign trail, now with enhanced security measures.
At a recent indoor rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Trump was provided with an “unprecedented level of police officers” for protection. The event, attended by around 14,000 supporters, featured Trump alongside his new running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance.
