Prosecutor Tetteh Turkson stated that De Sousa Abreu willingly participated in the video, underestimating the seriousness of her actions. Turkson emphasized that this incident represented a severe breach of public trust. De Sousa Abreu appeared at Isleworth Crown Court dressed in white pants, a brown top, and a matching white jacket, remaining silent as she entered the courthouse.

She admitted to one count of misconduct in a public office, a charge that carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. After her plea, she was released on conditional bail and is scheduled to return to court on November 7. Her legal representatives have not yet issued any public statements regarding the case.
The married mother of one was arrested earlier in July after a police investigation linked her to the incident. Authorities apprehended her at Heathrow Airport as she attempted to board a flight to Madrid, following her notification to her employers that she would not be returning to work.
