If we have a free and fair election, Trump is guaranteed to win. But we all know the games that can be played, like in 2020.
Former President Donald Trump, ever the maestro of media spectacle, took to the stage once again on Thursday, delivering a press conference that was as much theater as it was politics. This marked his second extended engagement with the press this month, a clear signal that the 2024 election isn’t just heating up—it’s about to boil over. Trump, with his unmistakable flair for drama, sought to draw a sharp, almost surgical contrast between his campaign and that of his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, who has maintained a conspicuous silence since seizing the Democratic nomination.

Where is Kamala??! Why won’t she do a press conference?

Perched behind a podium at his Bedminster estate, Trump orchestrated a scene almost cinematic in its staging. Groceries were strategically displayed around him, a visceral illustration of the inflationary squeeze under the Biden-Harris administration. With a combination of biting sarcasm and pointed critique, Trump zeroed in on Harris’s recent vow to tackle inflation as her “Day One priority.” The former president’s retort was swift and scathing: “Day One for Kamala was more than three years ago. Where has she been? What’s taken so long?”
Harris, who has been the presumptive Democratic nominee for nearly a month now, has remained a ghost in the media landscape—no press conferences, no interviews, no public grilling. Trump, ever the predator sensing weakness, pounced on this fact with relish. He accused her campaign of strategically keeping her out of the spotlight, much like he alleged was done with Biden in 2020. “They’re hiding her, just like they hid him, because she’s grossly incompetent,” Trump declared, his words laced with a mix of contempt and confidence. “And when people finally hear what she has to say, they’re not going to buy it.”
Within Trump’s camp, there have been whispers—advisors subtly urging him to dial back the personal attacks, to focus on policy rather than personality. But Trump, being Trump, has shown little inclination to temper his approach. When asked directly about the personal barbs he’s been throwing at Harris, his response was as blunt as it was revealing. “I’m very angry at her,” he said, not mincing words. “She’s weaponized the justice system against me and others. I think I’m entitled to personal attacks.”

Trump didn’t stop there. His assessment of Harris was nothing short of withering. “I don’t have a lot of respect for her intelligence,” he said, his voice heavy with disdain. “She’d be a terrible president.” For Trump, the stakes are nothing less than existential—his rhetoric painted the upcoming election as a battle for the soul of the nation. “Whether the personal attacks are good or bad, I just want to win—for the country.”
True to form, Trump also found time to take shots at Harris’s running mate, Stolen Valor Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, whom he derided as “a weird guy.” He scoffed at what he labeled as Harris’s “weird policies,” questioning the logic of any politician campaigning on raising taxes or opposing strong borders. “All my life, I’ve heard politicians promise to lower taxes. This is the first campaign I’ve seen where they’re actually saying they’re going to raise them.”
Trump’s narrative wasn’t just about criticizing Harris—it was about framing her as a fundamental threat to America’s future. “She’s not just a radical left socialist,” he warned, his voice tinged with a sense of urgency. “She’s going to destroy our country.”

Yet, amid all the fiery rhetoric, Trump portrayed himself as a reluctant warrior, a man who would have gladly stepped aside if only the country were being run competently. “If the Democrats were doing a great job, I wouldn’t be here. But they’re not, and that’s why I’m back,” he declared.
At one point, the former president reflected on a near-miss assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, attributing his survival to divine intervention. “That was a miracle,” he said, with an almost prophetic tone. “God had something to do with it. Maybe it’s because we’re meant to save this world.”
Meanwhile, the Harris campaign struck back with a mock advisory, predicting Trump’s press conference would be filled with “incoherent ramblings and dangerous lies.” Harris’s spokesperson, James Singer, framed Trump as a figure of division, contrasting it with Harris and Walz’s message of middle-class advocacy and freedom.
