On Friday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered two IDF planes to be sent to the Netherlands to bring Maccabi Tel Aviv fans home following violent clashes in Amsterdam between Israeli soccer fans and protesters. He subsequently cancelled the IDF rescue mission, saying the government would instead focus on ‘humanitarian’ services for those affected in Amsterdam. The Europa League match was a home game between Dutch team Ajax and Maccabi Tel Aviv. Dutch and Israeli authorities have condemned the violence as ‘antisemitic.’
