Sir Keir Starmer has hailed the arrest of a man suspected of being a supplier of small boats to people smugglers as "an important step" in tackling illegal Channel crossings.
The prime minister said the arrest of the 44-year-old man, who was detained at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport and is facing extradition to Belgium, is "significant" but not a "silver bullet".
He added: "It shows that our approach of working with international partners to smash the people smuggling gangs is bearing fruit."
