US President-elect Donald Trump will return to the White House as a convicted felon. There are numerous ongoing criminal cases against Trump, but his re-election has made prosecuting these cases difficult. After winning the White House and the US Senate, Republicans won enough seats on Friday to control the House of Representatives, giving Trump full control of government. But even with that majority, Trump’s recent Cabinet appointments might not be confirmed. His appointment of Rep. Matt Gaetz as attorney general has sparked controversy, even among Senate Republicans. Congress has been investigating Gaetz for allegations of sexual misconduct and drug use, but his resignation from Congress will force the inquiry to a close. Gaetz’ Congressional record has focused largely on issues of freedom of speech, breaking up big tech companies, and non-compete clauses.
