JESUS SAYS, MAKE A CHOICE TO STOP FEARING:
Revelation 2:10a Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer.
Throughout history, God has used the persecution of His Church to advance the gospel by scattering His people to go to the unsaved world and showing the world what true Christlikeness looks like. When Jesus visited His persecuted church, He told them not to fear, to be faithful unto death, and He would reward them richly.
Peter, who was crucified for following Jesus, says, “In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter1.6
God doesn’t give us a spirit of fear (2 Tim 1:7). The world does, our flesh does, and Satan does, but God doesn’t.
His message to Smyrna and to us, no matter what we’re facing in our daily lives, our health, our careers, our finances, is fear not.
The church shines brightest as a light for Christ when we fear not even in the face of persecution and martyrdom.
