German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has welcomed the fall of the Syrian Assad regime and offered Berlin’s help to stabilize the war-torn country.
Syrians in Berlin took to the streets on Sunday to celebrate, waving flags used by the Syrian opposition. Germany is home to nearly a million Syrians who fled the civil war in their home country in 2015. Most of them were granted asylum protection and given the right to live and work in Germany.
