Indian authorities said on January 2 that they have completed moving toxic waste from the site of the 1984 Bhopal gas leak, the world’s worst industrial disaster. The leak killed over 5,000 people initially, with estimates of 8,000 more deaths within two weeks.
A 2006 government affidavit reported 558,125 injuries, including 38,478 temporary partial injuries and 3,900 severe and permanent disabilities.
