Russians are celebrating Orthodox Christmas, with the war in Ukraine and high inflation looming over the festivities.
While most Christians celebrate Christmas on the 25th of December, many of the worlds Orthodox Christians still mark the occasion on January 7th, as they follow the old Julian calendar.
In Moscow, President Vladimir Putin joined a Christmas service hosted by Patriarch Kirill. The head of the Russian Orthodox Church has been a vociferous public supporter of Putin’s war in Ukraine.
