On January 3, 72-year-old Palestinian Khaled Al Najjar was brutally attacked by illegal Israeli settlers in Hebron in the occupied West Bank, leaving him in critical condition. After spending three nights in the ICU, Al Najjar was eventually released from the hospital.
This isn’t Al Najjar’s first encounter with settler violence; in 2001, he was shot in the stomach by Israeli settlers. Attacks by these illegal settlers have surged since Israel launched its war on Palestine’s Gaza in October 2023, with 2024 marking the highest number of settler assaults in the occupied West Bank in two decades, according to UNOCHA.
