Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has announced a plan for four government-backed inquiries into grooming gangs.
The new local inquiries are in addition to one in Oldham and will be advised by Tom Crowther KC, who led the Telford grooming gang inquiry in 2022.
Sky News understands the inquiries will not have power to summon witnesses to give evidence, as Labour’s Rotherham MP Sarah Champion had pushed for.
