Shortly after the ceasefire took effect in Gaza on January 19, Israel launched a raid across several areas in the occupied West Bank, including Jenin, killing several Palestinians and detaining over 60 others. This operation followed an order from Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi to prepare for large-scale attacks aimed at “preempting Palestinian fighters,” alongside plans for continued assaults in Gaza and Lebanon. Israel also raised a threatening banner at the prison gates, reading, “I will pursue my enemies and overtake them,” as Palestinian prisoners were released on the first day of the prisoner exchange deal.
