Mizuho Americas Senior Financial Technology Analyst Dan Dolev joins Market Domination Overtime anchors Julie Hyman and Josh Lipton to analyze Coinbase’s (COIN) fourth quarter results, which exceeded revenue and earnings expectations.
While acknowledging that the cryptocurrency trading platform "crushed [in] Q4," Dolev explains the muted market reaction: "That doesn’t really matter because the sell side typically is slower to update their numbers than the buy side."
He emphasizes that investors are currently more focused on retail take rates and February trading trends.
Discussing potential catalysts for Coinbase’s stock, Dolev suggests that the US government establishing a bitcoin (BTC-USD) reserve could benefit the crypto company, particularly in an environment expecting deregulation.
"Think of it as the casino. When you see people winning, smiling, and dancing coming out of the casino, you want to go in and check in and say, ‘ Oh, people are getting rich,’" he tells Yahoo Finance.
