For many women like Rupinder Kaur living across India’s rural hinterland, just leaving home for the day is a big deal. But now the resident of India’s northern state of Punjab leaves home several times a week to pilot agricultural drones to help farmers spray pesticides and fertilisers over their crops. The Indian government launched this programme to encourage women to work, in a country where the female labour participation rate is very low.
