China’s tariffs on the US have come into effect today, adding a levy on many US farm products.
The tariffs of ten to fifteen percent will affect items such as beef, poultry and grains. China is also halting soybean imports from three US companies and stopping purchases of US wood.
Beijing’s measures come after U-S President Donald Trump doubled the universal tariff on Chinese goods from 10 to 20 percent last week. Those are expected to affect 300 Billion dollars worth of goods, and could cost US consumers up to 25 Billion dollars.
