"You are gonna wash my European feet, boy."
New York State Assemblymember and New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani says he has been harassed after challenging Tom Homan, President Donald Trump’s so-called “border czar,” during his visit to the state Capitol last week.
A Muslim born in Uganda, Mamdani pressed Homan on Mahmoud Khalil’s abduction, asking, "How many more New Yorkers will you detain without charges?"
Following the exchange, Mamdani’s office received a surge of hostile and racist voicemails, forcing him to temporarily disconnect his office phones. He attributed the backlash to a broader trend of increasingly divisive political rhetoric.
