The death toll from a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar rose to over 1,000 on Saturday as rescue teams recovered more bodies from the debris of numerous buildings that collapsed when the quake struck near the country’s second-largest city.Program Coordinator for the International Federation of the Red Cross, Marie Manrique, says, ‘The Red Cross has conducted rescue operations and provided all necessary emergency assistance, focusing on reaching people, particularly those who have lost their homes.’ ‘The urgent needs at this moment are housing, water, and transportation.
