‘I did not take this path except to help people’
These were the final moments of Palestinian paramedic Rifaat Radwan, filmed by himself just before Israeli forces indiscriminately fired on their clearly marked and illuminated aid vehicle, killing him and 14 colleagues in Tel al Sultan, Rafah, on March 23.
The 6-minute video, recovered from Radwan’s phone after his body was uncovered in a mass grave, was filmed before Israeli soldiers buried the bodies of slain aid workers and civil defence crews in an apparent attempt to conceal the deliberate targeting of rescue workers.
The video directly contradicts Israel’s claims that it did not “randomly attack ambulances,” but instead fired on "suspiciously approaching vehicles" that allegedly failed to activate their lights or emergency signals.
