Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has told Sky News the UK is taking "the right approach" as Donald Trump suspended tariffs on around 75 countries for 90 days, but those imposed on the UK haven’t changed.
She says the government is working "in a calm, steady way" and are "continuing to negotiate and work in the UK’s national interest".
When asked about a Sky News report that revealed an independent policy review is under pressure to reduce the prison population by more than 10%, Ms Cooper says that Labour "inherited a complete prison crisis from the Conservative government, they failed to build the prison places that we need", and that "the worst thing of all is to end up with no prison places."
