TRT World’s Zahra Yarali questioned State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce over reports that the Trump administration supported Itamar Ben-Gvir’s proposal to bomb humanitarian aid in Gaza.
On Wednesday, far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir claimed that senior Republicans endorsed his call to target "food and aid depots" following a dinner at former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort.
"I had the honor and privilege of meeting with senior Republican Party officials at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate. They expressed support for my very clear position on how to act in Gaza—that the food and aid depots should be bombed to create military and political pressure to bring our hostages home safely," Ben-Gvir said on X.
Israeli media reported that Republican House Majority Whip Tom Emmer was among the attendees. The Republican Party has not commented on Ben-Gvir’s claims.
Ben-Gvir arrived in the US on Monday for his first official visit to Washington, DC since joining Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government in 2022.
