Mike Ryan, who serves as the Director of the World Health Organization’s Emergencies Programme, called the Gaza genocide an “abomination” in an impassioned statement made on May 1 at the WHO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
No aid has entered Gaza since Israel unilaterally ended the ceasefire in March, trapping millions of Palestinians in a war zone without food, water, or medical supplies.
Ryan continued, addressing his audience directly: “We are complicit. We are causing this. You and everyone who does nothing about it.”
The Emergencies Programme Director added: “As a physician… I’m angry with myself that I’m not doing enough, I’m angry with everyone here, I’m angry with you, I’m angry with the world.”
