“We’ve been drinking urine for the past four days. If you hadn’t come tonight, we would’ve gone into a coma”
Around 30 Sudanese refugees, including women and children, were forced to drink their own urine to survive after their vehicle broke down near Libya’s Wadi Hawar. Stranded in the remote southern desert for five days without water, they were eventually rescued by Libyan emergency services on May 12.
