Jesus gives us a picture of the End of Days that only now, in our generation, is beginning to come into clearer and clearer focus. This should inspire confidence in a God who predicted what for centuries was impossible to even imagine and is bringing everything together exactly how He said it would be.
When God says these things must “shortly” take place in Revelation 1:1, the word “shortly” is translated from the Greek word taxos, meaning “quickly.” Once it starts happening, it will happen irrecoverably fast. When Jesus told John in Revelation 1:19 to write “the things which will take place after this,” He described a world that looks more and more like what we see outside our windows and on our televisions every day.
When the End of Days begins, the world will be so startled by it that the world will never recover. But God wants His servants to know what’s coming. Jesus is going to keep His promise: He’s coming back.
