Jesus assumed His disciples would give, pray, and fast.
In Matthew 6, Jesus expresses some expectations or desires of His disciples, not commands.
Jesus never commands these disciplines or choices; He just states them as assumptions that these are things they would be doing. In other words, Jesus says this is what I expect you are already doing as my disciples. These are the natural overflow of a life, hungering for God.
