Thousands of Israelis took part in a violent demonstration sponsored by the Israeli government in occupied East Jerusalem on 26 May to mark the anniversary of Israel’s occupation of the area, which began in 1967.
Marchers, who moved aggressively through largely Muslim quarters of occupied East Jerusalem, were recorded chanting slogans widely described as genocidal, aimed at intimidating nearby Palestinians — including “May Palestine’s name be wiped” and “May your village burn”.
