A teenage boy was sentenced to seven years’ custody in June after being convicted of the manslaughter of 80-year-old Bhim Kohli, who died after being attacked in a park near Leicester.
The Solicitor General has referred the sentence to the Court of Appeal under the unduly lenient sentence scheme.
Lawyers representing the boy, who can’t be named for legal reasons, are also seeking to have his sentence reduced at the same hearing.
