Minister for policing and crime Dame Diana Johnson MP confirms facial recognition vans will be rolled out across police forces in England.
The police’s use of facial recognition technology is to be significantly expanded in an attempt to catch more offenders, ministers have announced.
There is new guidance for the police to consider disclosing ethnicity and nationality of suspects.
Johnson said: "We want to be as transparent and as open as possible with the public, we think that’s important" and a "charge should include nationality and ethnicity, unless there is a very good reason not to do so."
