British police say two of the five victims of Thursday’s synagogue attack in Manchester were struck by police gunfire, while trying to stop the suspect.
Greater Manchester Police called it a ‘tragic and unforeseen consequence’. The attacker’s family condemned what they called a ‘heinous act’ and expressed their deep sorrow for the victims.
Meanwhile pro-Palestine demonstrations which took place in London on the same day, have been called ‘un-British’ by the UK Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood. Paul Hawkins has the story.
