In a gospel written for Jews, Jesus is presented in His royalty; his Jewishness is very evident.
Matthew opens with the declaration that Jesus is the "Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham."
In fact, eight of the twelve references to Jesus as the son of David are in Matthew, who so clearly pictures Jesus as the ideal Israelite and the ideal King of Israel.
