A pair of Afghan nationals are facing prison sentences, sex offender registration, and deportation, after pleading guilty to raping a 15-year-old girl in a park in central England.
According to police, the disturbing attack happened in May, when the asylum seekers, Jan Jahanzeb and Israr Niazal, both 17-years-old, steered the 15-year-old victim away from her friend group in Leamington Spa in Warwickshire, and brutally raped her in a park.
Jahanzeb was sentenced to ten years and eight months, while Niazal was sentenced to nine years and ten months. BBC reported that the pair will start their prison sentences in a Young Offenders’ Institution and will be on the sex offenders register for life.
According to Reuters, Jahanzeb will be automatically deported after serving his sentence. A judge said she would also recommend Niazal eventually be deported as well.
