The Ministry of Defence has released a photograph of Lance Corporal George Hooley, who died in a "tragic accident" in Ukraine on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old British paratrooper was observing Ukrainian forces testing a new defensive capability, away from the frontline, the MoD said.
Hooley joined the army in November 2015 and was regarded by the defence ministry as "an exceptional soldier and an impressive junior leader with extensive operational experience".
