Chile goes to the polls on Sunday in a run-off presidential election, with candidates from the political extremes going head-to-head. Jose Antonio Kast of the far-right Republican Party is the frontrunner. He is running on a platform of strict immigration controls, tax cuts, and family values. His principal opponent is Communist Jeannette Jara, the former Minister of Labor and Social Provision. She is advocating for reform and social justice. Both candidates have promised to crackdown on a wave of violent crime.
