3i/Atlas will race past Earth at 130,000mph, coming within 170 million miles, roughly twice as far away as the sun. Scientists say it’s a comet, but some believe that it could be extraterrestrials paying us a visit.
“We must stay on high alert for what may be a black swan event,” says Harvard astrophysicist Professor Avi Loeb, who warns alien technology cannot be ruled out.
