Vladimir Putin claimed Ukraine is retreating and compared EU leaders to "burglars" at a marathon news conference in Moscow.
The Russian president’s end-of-year TV special was broadcast on all major Russian TV channels as journalists and citizens were given the chance to ask questions to the leader.
The news conference is again being combined with the annual ‘Direct Line with Vladimir Putin’ event where Putin answers questions from the Russian people about a range of issues.
