Bangladesh’s first female prime minister, Khaleda Zia has died at a Dhaka hospital following a long illness. The 80-year-old was expected to lead the Bangladesh Nationalist Party to next year’s elections. Her son had returned from exile just last week, after the ousting of Zia’s rival and long-time leader, Sheikh Hasina.
