China continued on December 30 for a second day its live-fire military exercises around Taiwan. The exercises involved 130 military jets and 22 warships in the vicinity of the island in the space of 24 hours. Beijing considers the self-ruled island part of its territory and claims it is acting against the provocation of separatist forces in Taiwan.
