Israel’s Knesset has passed a law removing UNRWA’s diplomatic immunity, exposing the agency to Israeli legal action, cutting off essential services, and allowing the expropriation of its offices in occupied East Jerusalem.
The move follows earlier raids, school closures, and efforts to ban UNRWA, with Israel accusing the agency of links to Hamas, claims UNRWA denies. The United Nations says the legislation violates international law and Israel’s obligations, warning it could cripple aid, education, and healthcare for millions of Palestinian refugees.
