As the world stepped into a new year, tens of thousands of people in Türkiye chose to begin 2026 on the streets – marching for Gaza.
The rally was organised by non-governmental organisations. They say the idea of a ceasefire does not necessarily mean an end to suffering for Gaza’s citizens. Demonstrators say Israel’s onslaught may have shifted form, but it has not ended. TRT World’s Nizar Sadawi reports from Istanbul.
