US President Donald Trump has dropped his push to deploy the National Guard in several cities after last week’s rebuke by the Supreme Court. He posted the decision from his Florida residence where he’s been focusing on foreign policy issues, including the military campaign against Venezuela. Trump’s controversial bombing of boats in the Caribbean and the use of troops in mostly Democratic-run US cities have marked a year of political challenges. And he now faces a new and very different leader in the biggest city in the US. Craig Boswell reports from Washington.
