Police responded to the Brooklyn Methodist Hospital around 5:40 p.m. after receiving a 911 call about a man who barricaded himself inside a hospital room with an elderly patient. He was wielding a sharp object and using it to cut himself — leaving the room covered in blood, according to sources. Two officers deployed their tasers at him after an altercation — but it failed to stop the man, according to witnesses and sources. Two other officers then discharged their guns, and shots were fired, striking him, sources said.
