US President Donald Trump and Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei traded barbs during speeches delivered on Friday.
Trump threatened to order new strikes on Iran if Tehran “kills” protesters, while Khamenei called on Trump to focus on “his own country.”
Protests that began over soaring inflation in the Islamic Republic late last month have escalated into the largest in three years, with unrest reported in every province, public property damaged, and at least 65 people killed, according to the Human Rights Activists News Agency.
Iranian officials have accused the United States and Israel of fomenting the unrest.
