Fresh off his Critics Choice Awards win, the A-list actor is gearing up for another big moment at the Golden Globes, where he is nominated for Best Actor for ‘Marty Supreme.’ The film, which is also nominated for Best Musical or Comedy, tells the story of Marty Mauser—a table tennis champion willing to do whatever it took to achieve his dreams. Although ‘Marty Supreme’ is not a biopic, director Josh Safdie revealed that the story was inspired by real-life ping pong legend Marty Reisman, who made history in 1949 after winning the World Championships. Known for hustling players for cash at the Broadway Table Tennis Club, Reisman developed a playing style famously nicknamed “The Atomic Blast.” To prepare for the role, Chalamet spent years mastering the art of table tennis.
