A new rail line will be built between Birmingham and Manchester, the government has announced.
The chancellor says it will be delivered in three phases, with £1bn available today to start purchasing land for the initial phase to improve connections from Sheffield, Bradford and York to Leeds.
Overall, the project is said to cost £45bn.
