The United States is reportedly increasing its military presence in the Middle East by sending an aircraft carrier. That’s according to US media, though the Pentagon has not confirmed the deployment. The USS Abraham Lincoln and accompanying ships are said to be en route from Southeast Asia. The aircraft carrier was reported to be in the South China Sea. Likely destinations are thought to include the Mediterranean Sea and the Persian Gulf. We spoke with Behnam Ben Taleblu, senior director of the Iran program at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, and Cornelius Adebahr, an expert on Iran at the German Council on Foreign Relations.
